9 - For The Philippines

"Bayani Ba 'To? Heroism for Millennials"

When the head of the English department announced to us that there will be like a seminar or a program? I was curious about it but then they said that, it will be like an open forum. So, I was convinced because I have a little interest about open forums and that's good with me. That was scheduled on the 14th of August which is Saturday. On that day, I came there and then I saw the poster written, Bayani ba 'to. The first thought that came in my mind was heroism and being a Filipino citizen because when I enter in the entrance, they're giving brochures, pictures like heroism, and a sticker written, "Bayani o Sarili?". Then when I went inside with my classmates we saw a music video on the big screen, it was dedicated for the Filipinos and being a Filipino citizen in our country the Philippines. I was surprised because I'm interested when it comes to our country. Our country is getting poorer because of the Filipino citizens. Yes, ourselves.

That program is actually explaining about General Luna's life and the Filipino's in the past times. The producers of the movie are there and other contributors. They let the director, Jerrold Tarog, speech for his accomplishment in the movie, I was so surprised because the director is speaking on the stage who is the multi-awarded Filipino film director, composer, writer, editor, and sound designer. He talked about how they accomplished their movie and why did they created a movie like heroism for Filipinos. It was freaking awesome and I was so built up. Not only, the director but also the doctorate, masteral, college graduate, Xiao Chua. He talks about the life of General Luna and it was so humorous! Even though General Luna's life was serious, he made us laugh and enjoy his speech because of his slides on the big screen. After that, they showed the preview of the movie Heneral Luna they showed us some of the scenes from the movie that will make you hang on a cliff. The main actor was John Arcilla, he is a very good actor in Filipino movies, one of the best actors in the Philippines. After that, they showed the trailer of the movie that they release on Facebook and YouTube. I think that the preview was only showed in the schools that they are only visiting.

When they explained General Luna's life, it was really like they're only just a normal person and having fun with his friends like Jose Rizal. They're just a normal person who are living in a normal city in Manila. How did they created an army is they don't want to lose in the war of Americans and Filipinos so they created a group of themselves and form an army with fellow Filipinos to fight against the Americans. That's why we can be a hero also, a modern hero, we can change our Filipino citizens not by not giving a damn about your surrounding but giving some courage to help and fight with the life. It's easy to ignore someone that you don't know but it's hard to have a courage to talk with them. That's the problem that is occurring right now here in our country. We could be a modern hero. We can be like General Luna and fight the world who are against our country.

You can do it.
